There are two things I obsess the most about when it comes to planning one of my daughters parties. Invitations & cake. The invitations are your guests first look into your event, your theme, your colors, it gives them an idea of what to expect. Then the cake…well you can’t have a birthday party without cake so it’s kinda the most important part in my eyes in regards to decor! I always try to impress when it comes to the invitations and I have so much fun designing them. I wanted something truly magical this year for my daughters Swan Lake party. I knew right away I wanted to do something Acrylic. I see it becoming a very hot party trend next year. So after much research I decided on Jenn and Jules Designs for the actual invite but I didn’t stop there.
The invitations came beautifully tucked inside a simple white boxed wrapped with satin ribbon, labeled with their own swan tag and adorned with white feathers. So simple & elegant! For the actual invitation wording I wrote a little poem in which it said
“Once upon a time, beneath an enchanted night sky….”
So in keeping with the poem I wanted the top of the box to resemble the night sky. I painted the top of the box with a blue Metallic acrylic paint found at Michael’s then while the paint was still wet I sprinkled tiny gold star confetti all over it.
For the bottom of the box I wanted it to look like an icy lake so I painted it with a light blue acrylic paint then went over it with a metallic icy blue color to give it some sheen. Then I made a snow bank around the entire inside of the box using my glue gun and fake snow found in the village section of Michael’s as well. Who else here thinks Michael’s should hire me? This girl does!! Once my snow back was dry I set the invite right on top and sprinkled a few more stars here and there and added the finishing touch.
I found these beautiful gold glitter ballerina ornaments at World Market and laid them right on top of the invite almost like she was floating across the ice. The finished product once they opened the box. Aren’t they beautiful?!! “Once upon a time,
beneath an enchanted night sky,
snow fell softly over a shimmering lake
where a sweet little ballerina
dreamt of one day becoming
a swan princess.”
